BW-Industry - Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) Film
PEEK film is made of PEEK particles by high-temperature melting, casting plastic film, the film is a performance & thermoforming film, with high temperature resistance, radiation resistance, resistance to hydrolysis, electrical insulation, barrier, and other properties; combustion products are almost non-toxic emissions; its balanced performance has made it become the market`s highest performance, the most widely used films. Its balanced properties make it one of the highest performing and most widely used films in the market.
PEEK Thin Films Grade
Amorphous Thin Film
- The molecular arrangement of amorphous PEEK film is more chaotic, there is no obvious crystallization area.
- Appearance: relatively rough, less uniform distribution
- Transparency: low transparency, slightly turbid.
- Color: showing more color variations or unevenness
- Flexibility: high flexibility and deformation ability, but usually lower density, mechanical properties are relatively weak.
- Density: usually low density, density of about 1.3-1.4g / cm3
- Weak mechanical properties
- Applications: flexible electronic products, flexible sensors, medical devices, etc.
Semi-crystalline Plastic Film
- Semi-crystalline PEEK film in the molecular arrangement of the more orderly, some of which formed a crystalline structure, there are also amorphous regions.
- Performance characteristics: semi-crystalline PEEK film has high strength and rigidity, while retaining a certain degree of flexibility, its density is relatively high, good mechanical properties.
- Applications: Due to its good mechanical properties and chemical stability, semi-crystalline PEEK films are commonly used in applications requiring high strength and rigidity, such as aerospace, automotive industry, electronic devices, etc.
- Appearance: Higher degree of crystallinity, usually with a smoother and more homogeneous surface
- Transparency: higher transparency compared to amorphous PEEK film
- Color: Milky white or light yellow, plus uniform color distribution
- Flexibility: with better mechanical properties and chemical stability, semi-crystalline PEEK films are often used in applications requiring high strength and rigidity.
- Density: 1.3 to 1.45 g/cm3
- Strong mechanical properties
- Applications: aerospace, automotive industry, electronics, etc.
Mineral filled PEEK film
- A mineral filled polyether ether ketone (PEEK) film is a film material made by adding mineral fillers (glass fibers, carbon fibers, carbon black, calcium and magnesium silicates) to a polyether ether ketone matrix.
- Glass fibers: used to increase rigidity and strength.
- Carbon fibers: for increased strength and stiffness, and reduced density.
- Graphite: used to increase electrical conductivity and abrasion resistance.
- Calcium and magnesium silicates: used to increase rigidity and heat resistance.
Differences between mineral-filled polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and regular unfilled PEEK:Mechanical properties:
Mineral-filled PEEK increases strength and stiffness.
Wear Resistance:
The addition of filler minerals such as carbon black or glass fibers can significantly improve the wear resistance of PEEK.
Conductivity:
Increased electrical conductivity.
Thermal Stability:
The addition of calcium and magnesium silicates improves the thermal stability and heat resistance of PEEK, especially in high temperature environments.
