Preservol - Powder Membrane Preservative
Preservol membrane preservative provides safe storage of membranes for short and long periods of time. Preservol powder membrane preservative allows membranes to be stored for short and extended periods without loss of performance. As a powder, Preservol is more convenient to store, easier to handle and may be transported more economically. This product is reliable at extreme temperatures and has an extended shelf-life, maintaining product stability long-term. Preservol is safe for use on polyamide thin-film composite membranes, cellulose acetate membranes, nanofiltration and ultrafiltration membranes.
Step 1: Thoroughly clean membranes with Lavasol or OptiClean membrane cleaners.
Step 2: Mix 1 pound of Preservol to 6 gallons of good quality water such a RO permeate. Re-circulate solution for at least 15 minutes. A recirculation pressure less than 60 psi is recommended. If possible, avoid permeation.
Step 3: After recirculation, shut-down the system. Do not allow the Preservol solution to drain from the membranes. The membranes may then be stored in the system vessels or they may be removed and stored in separate containers.
Step 4: To use membranes after storage, first rinse them for 30 minutes using good quality water such as DI or RO permeate.
