Primus Line - Flexible Multi-layer Pipe Liner
The Primus Line® technology is both strong and flexible. This is ensured by the multi-layer liner structure and the specially developed, leak-proof connectors. Its special technical features make Primus Line® the ideal solution for the rehabilitation of pressure pipelines and for the construction of above-ground pipelines. The system is both technically and economically convincing, particularly in areas that are difficult to access.
1,060 kilometres
of Primus Line® have been installed worldwide up to now
> 1,000 projects
have successfully been realised
55 countries
with Primus Line® installations
The Primus Line® quality promise is great: A professional rehabilitation with the internationally proven technology extends the service life of a pipe for at least 50 years. Ultimately, it is the interplay of various components that ensures our high quality standard:
- Continuous monitoring and control from goods receipt to delivery
- Sophisticated and advanced products
- Trained and certified installation teams
Bendability
The liner of Primus Line® can pass several pipe bends up to 90 degrees during installation. Its abrasion-resistant outer layer made of polyethylene (PE) or thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) protects it reliably from abrasion. Even under these demanding operating conditions, the liner can still withstand at least 50 per cent of its nominal operating pressure.
Thanks to its fabric made of aramid fibres between inner and outer layer, the liner by Primus Line is statically self-supporting and accommodates the entire internal operating pressure by itself. When used for pipe rehabilitation (Primus Line® Rehab), this means that the liner works as a new pressure pipe in the existing pipe during operation. An annular space remains between liner and host pipe, time-consuming gluing is not necessary. At the same time, this feature is the prerequisite for using the technology above-ground in open terrain which makes it completely independet of existing pipework (Primus Line® Overland Piping).
The liner`s inner layer made of polyethylene (PE) or thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has a low friction coefficient of k = 0.028 mm. This is why Primus Line® pipes have optimal flow characteristics.
This opens up further fields of application for Primus Line®:
- Increase in flow velocity
- Increase in volume flow
Long seamless liner lengths make Primus Line® a highly economic and safe solution. Space-saving transport is possible on sea and airfreight-friendly transport reels. Large continuous installation lengths reduce the required number of excavation pits and/or connections and thus ensure low impact on the environment.
- Seamless production: up to 4,500 metres
- Installation length in one piece: up to 2,500 metres
The liner system has a minimum service life of 50 years. The required extrapolation factors have been determined in a series of long-term tests based on DIN 16887 and ISO 9080.
For a particularly durable product, Primus Line relies on a sophisticated, tried and tested design and selected raw materials. The modern production facilities unite the resistant materials polyethylene (PE), aramid fibres and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to a robust liner. In combination with the connectors made of cast iron or carbon steel, a pull-proof and durable connection between the liner and the existing line network is established. The flange models of the connectors are given a high-quality powder coating, which offers additional protection against corrosion.
The material requirements for water, gas and oil pipelines are demanding. Primus Line® even fulfills the high standards for drinking water and gas and has the corresponding certifications. Depending on the medium transported, the inner liner layer consists of polyethylene (PE) or thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).
Primus Line® is suitable for transporting water, gas and oil.
For more details, please refer to the following table. The liner type (see hose liner) is selected according to the medium and/or field of application. Use for other media is only possible after throrough review and approval.
