Reverse Osmosis Emergency Treatment Plants
Glan Agua will provide a skid-mounted reverse osmosis treatment system for the removal of nitrates and ammonia in water treatment processes. Reverse Osmosis is used to separate solutes from water, relying on the physical and chemical properties of the solutes for separation. A high-pressure feed stream is directed across the surface of a semi-permeable material, and due to a pressure differential between the feed and permeate sides of the membrane, a portion of the feed stream passes through the membrane.
As the water passes through the membrane, solutes are rejected and the feed stream becomes more concentrated. RO is a continuous separation process, and therefore there is no periodic backwash cycle. Two units in parallel are employed; The double pass units can remove up to 98% of dissolved organics and all colloidal and suspended matter larger than 0.5 micron. Glan Agua Ltd. have installed 2 no. reverse osmosis systems in Kiltiernan GWS WTP and Ballyaneen Rakerin GWS WTP.
