Suspended solids in wastewater settle to the bottom under stagnant conditions. To ensure the proper and efficient removal of this accumulated sludge, it must all be collected at a single point. Scrapers are equipment developed for this purpose and are indispensable components of sedimentation tanks in wastewater treatment plants. In half-bridge scrapers, the scraper bridge and bottom blades move continuously, conveying the sludge to the sludge cone in the center of the tank. Foam and oils that accumulate on the tank surface are conveyed to a foam collection chute via an arm that scrapes the tank surface. Foam and sludge are generally removed from their points of accumulation by pump.
