Sauereisen - Model No. 19 - Adhesive Paste
From Ceramic Assembly
Sauereisen Adhesive Paste No. 19 is an inorganic, odorless, nontoxic cement used for bonding glass, porcelain, wood, felt, cork, metals and ceramic fiber. Some typical applications include protection of exposed metal surfacesduring heat treating, bonding wallboard to brick or concrete and cementing high-temperature fiber to metal surfaces.
- Resists oils, solvents and all acids (except hydrofluoric)
- Withstands 1800°F (982°C) without softening
- Insulates electricity
- Heat conductive and thermal shock resistant
- Porcelain-like surface, easily cleaned D Can be colored
Sauereisen No. 19 is supplied as a ready-mixed paste and may be applied by brushing, dipping or spraying. No. 19 is suitable for use on production lines with mechanical dispensers or applicators because it will not harden in the equipment during normal operation.
No. 19 should be thoroughly remixed to a smooth, uniform consistency prior to use.
Surfaces to receive No. 19 Paste should be clean and free of grease and dirt.
Porous substrates should be dampened slightly with Sauereisen Thinning Liquid Nos. 14 or 15 prior to application. No. 19 should be used in thin applications; apply several coats where a heavy layer is desired. In multiple coat applications, each coat must be thoroughly dry priorto applying additional coats. If necessary, Thinning Liquid Nos. 14 or 15 should be used where No. 19 Paste is required in a thinner consistency. Minimum amounts of liquid should be used as excess liquid reduces mechanical strength, increases shrinkage and delays set time. No. 19 shou Id not be applied in athicknessgreater than 1/4'.
No. 19 cures by air drying at room temperature. Drying time depends on the consistency and thickness of the application. Normally 18-24 hours drying at ambient temperature is sufficient. When the cement has minimal exposure to air, or if it is desired to accelerate the cure, low temperature oven drying at 180°F can be used. Avoid steaming while drying. If the cement will be exposed to elevated temperatures, contact Sauereisen for appropriate drying schedule recommendation.
If high humidity resistance is required and it is impractical to fire cement, a moisture-resistant lacquer or silicone coating should be applied to the exposed surfaces.
Standard packaging for Electrotemp Cement No. 8 is 50 lb. bags. Small packaging in quarts and gallons is available, too. Consult Sauereisen for pricing of special packaging in pails.
All equipment should be cleaned with soap and water before No. 19 cures, If removal is required after cure, consult Sauereisen for recommendations.
No. 19 Paste has a shelf life of six (6). months when stored in unopened, tightly. sealed containers in a dry location at. 70oF. If there is a doubt as to the quality. of the material, consult Sauereisen.
