Olpas - Model OTE-SEDA-001 -Sediment Load Sensor for Water Monitoring
Suspended Sediment Concentration (SSC) sensor for placement in open water or canals.
Pre-calibrated modbus-sensor.
Thanks to using the OLPAS ultrasound measurement technology, the sensor is much less negatively impacted by fouling on the sensor head.
This results in maintenance intervals that are much longer compared to optical sensors.
There is no need for wipers.
Advantages
-
The ultrasound OLPAS Technology provides a robust measurement that is not prone to changing water colour or other optical changes that are not relevant for the actual SSC (Suspended Sediment Concentration)
-
Olpas sensors measure through fouling, requiring much less maintenance
-
and no need for automated mechanical cleaning (no wipers, no pressured air)
-
Due to the longer maintenance window, Olpas sensors can be installed on hard to reach locations (eg. in canals or in open nature), while still providing an economical measurement
Measurement Principle:
Ultrasound backscattering
Independence/insensitive:
No impact of changes in optical parameters
No impact of changes of fluid colour and fluid velocity
No impact from solids form and structure
Basic maintenance (or routine maintenance) includes cleaning the sensor with a soft sponge, cloth, or tissue.
Standard mild cleaning products can be used to clean the sensor better.
A visual inspection to assess the integrity of the housing is recommended to detect any problems in a timely manner.
Preventive Maintenance
Preventive maintenance should be performed when one of the following scenarios occurs:
-
Use of the sensor outside the recommended temperature range (based on external or internal temperature measurement)
-
After one year of continuous use
-
In the case of physical, mechanical, or electrical damage to the sensor
-
When humidity reaches 85% or higher inside the sensor housing
-
The sensor’s measurements deviate from the real concentration, even after calibration
