SHARE

A vertical wind tunnel is a system that moves air upwards in a vertical column. It allows people to fly in the air without an airplane or parachute thanks to the wind force created vertically. It is often called ''body flight'', ''aerodynamic simulator'' and ''flying body''. The product, which is designed specifically to meet the training needs of free parachutists, is manufactured for military or entertainment purposes. It allows free fall training in all weather conditions. In addition to providing low speeds where free fall training can be given to an average weight person, the tunnel, which provides a strong and safe air flow that allows 3 fully equipped parachutists to fly together, has a design that can compete with the best of its kind in the world.

Stop Group, an R&D and innovation company, has added the Vertical Wind Tunnel, a first in Turkey and completely innovative, to its product range. The tunnel has a CE certificate and has been confirmed to be fully compliant with EU and international standards. Let's enter the Vertical Wind Tunnel World together...

Thanks to the wind tunnel, training becomes easier for people who have never experienced free fall before, while those who have this experience can safely perform all kinds of maneuvers.

In the tunnel, which provides the wind force required for parachutists to perform their free-fall training, the speed required for training an average parachutist can be achieved by spending 560 kW of power. The system, which has a power reserve far above these power levels, can also fly at higher speeds if desired.

The tunnel's control system is equipped with touch screens, allowing instant monitoring of all data coming from the system, while also offering a user-friendly control environment thanks to a modern user interface.

The wind is blowing upwards at approximately 195 km/h (120 mph or 55 m/s). It is often called '' skydiving '' because the feeling of flying is so similar to parachuting .

Body Flight

Body Flying is the art of 'flying your body' in a controlled manner. This involves mid-air turns, rolls, lateral movement, control of the rate of fall and other acrobatics. When jumping from an aircraft, parachutists are allowed to fly closer together as they fall, in formation parachutes they are linked together and then fly a safe distance before opening their parachutes. With a vertical wind tunnel, parachutists can learn many body flying skills to give them better control of their bodies in the sky.

Body flying is accomplished by increasing/decreasing your body's drag, using your arms and legs as rudders to control body flying motion, as well as other techniques similar to the maneuvers an airplane performs. Professional athletes who fly long distances through the air, such as ski jumping, have also used certain body flying techniques to increase jump distance by manipulating their bodies to be more like wings.

Vertical Wind Tunnels are divided into 2.

Vertical wind tunnels with outdoor (open air flying) flying experience

Outdoor vertical wind tunnels can be fixed or portable. Portable vertical wind tunnels are often used in movies, shows, and are often rented for large events such as conventions and state fairs. Portable units provide a realistic effect for the flyer and spectators because there are no walls around the flight area. These vertical wind tunnels allow you to fly with a full or partial outdoor/sky view. Outdoor vertical wind tunnels may also have walls or netting around the wind column to prevent novice tunnel flyers from falling out of the tunnel.

Indoor wall-to-wall flight experience vertical wind tunnels

Indoor vertical wind tunnels include recirculating and non-recirculating types. Non-recirculating vertical wind tunnels typically draw air through inlets at the bottom of the building, through the body flight area, and exhaust it through the top of the building. Recirculating wind tunnels are similar to a scientific wind tunnel, but use a vertical loop with a body flight chamber within a vertical portion of the loop, creating an aerodynamic loop with rotating blades. Recirculating wind tunnels are typically built in climates that are too cold for non-recirculating wind tunnels. The airflow of an indoor vertical wind tunnel is generally smoother and more controlled than that of an outdoor unit. Indoor tunnels are more temperature controlled, so they are operated year-round, even in cold climates.
