BioMicrobics - Model BioSTORM -Stormwater Treatment System
BioSTORM Stormwater Treatment System is a Stage II stormwater system that combines litter control screening with sediment separation. It is typically paired with the StormTEE as a means to prevent litter from entering the treatment system.
The BioSTORM is a sustainable and low-maintenance stormwater management solution for decenralized and remote locations. The two-stage process prevents pollutants such as trash, debris, sediment, and hydrocarbons from entering storm drainage networks from parking lots, highways, and other impervious surfaces. The BioSTORM catches surface runoff before it reaches watersheds, protecting streams from pollutants and supporting natural ecosystems.
Certified to NJDEP standards, the BioSTORM is designed to remove trash, sediment, oil, and other suspended debris in the stormwater. The BioSTORM combines litter control screening with an interceptor as part of an effective and complete stormwater management system for Total Suspended Solids (TSS) removal.
BioSTORM Stormwater Treatment System is certified to NJDEP standards. It is a two-stage stormwater system that combines litter control screening with sediment separation. Typically paired with StormTEE and an interceptor module.
Stormwater runoff, carrying litter, sediment, and biological pollutants, enters the storm drain and flows into a settling chamber.
In the settling chamber, a StormTEE® Litter Control Screen separates larger solids from the water. Screened water passes through the StormTEE’s top and bottom diverter outlets into the treatment tank.
In the treatment tank, the BioSTORM® contains media that allows for the separation of sediment from the water, and which also coalesces hydrocarbons. Sediment falls to the bottom of the tank where it remains for storage and removal.
Treated water then passes an outlet baffle for discharge.
- As rainwater washes across roads and sidewalks, pollutants such as grit, oil, and trash flow into the storm drain.
- Stormwater enters the primary chamber The StormTEE® screen supports sedimentation and prevents trash and larger solids from passing into the secondary chamber
- The BioSTORM0 treatment module contains a corrugated interceptor that acts as a liquid/solid and oil/water separator. Sediment settles to the bottom of the tank for storage/removal.
- Treated runoff is directed up into the effluent pipe and back into the main stormwater network or into the environment.
