The PD Hawk™ is uniquely effective for detecting and locating internal and surface PD activity in open terminal switchyards. With the ability to measure emissions in the 47 – 1000MHz frequency range the PD Hawk™ is able to identify and disregard non-destructive corona and non-PD emissions. Surveying can then be carried out at a quiet frequency around the center frequency of 800MHz, to easily identify individual sources of partial discharge.

Using the built-in speaker or headphones the operator is able to listen to the emission as well as view the emission on the menu-driven screen.

The directional antenna of the PD Hawk™ enables problems to be identified in individual switchyard assets before they fail and at a fraction of the cost of a single outage caused by undetected problems resulting in disruptive failure.

This unique application, available to download from the Google Play Store, greatly enhances the usability of the instrument. Designed with the customer in mind it captures data in two modes; Pulse Mode and Scan Frequencies Mode to help with the interpretation of detected discharge signals. Linking directly to the PD Hawk™ the app allows you to accurately locate the position of operator as well as the PD emission for precise reporting of discharging assets. The PD Hawk™ Android App stores the captured data, enabling the operator to produce more accurate reports at a later date, it also allows results to be emailed instantaneously for further analysis.
