In 1962, Jan Snelder, founder of the company of the same name, started manufacturing metal products in De Meern.An important market was the glasshouse industry around Utrecht.At first, Snelder mostly produced glazing clips, glazing strips and hinges for wooden vents.As the company continued to grow, it moved to Utrecht in 1971.

From this new - and current - site, the company continued to grow.During this period, the company mainly made U and V brackets for ventilation installations.In the early seventies, many new products were added in order to install screening installations in the glasshouses.At first by using a 19 mm tube.Later, Snelder was one of the first in the market to develop a screen profile that would lead to energy savings.

In 1983, Jan Snelder sold the company to an investment company.Eleven years later, this investor withdrew and transferred the company to its current owners Ben Visser and Will van Roest.

Since then, Snelder has made huge investments in new production means and automation.This allowed the company to remain competitive and made it possible to keep providing the market with quality products against competitive prices.

Today, Snelder is an important worldwide supplier of complete ventilation and screening installations to greenhouse contractors, fitters and distributors.

Snelder is an active member of AVAG, the leading trade organisation for contractors and fitters in glasshouse horticulture in the Netherlands.Snelder is recognized by Kenteq as a certified learning company, a knowledge centre for technical skills, and works in close cooperation with TNO Bouw.For many years, the company has been a member of the Koninklijke Metaalunie, the largest Dutch organisation for small and medium-sized enterprises in the metal industry.
