UVC Spectrum - Ultraviolet Germicidal Lamps
UVC Spectrum produces ultraviolet germicidal lamps that employ low-pressure mercury vapor to emit UV-C radiation aimed at eliminating pathogens at the genetic level. These lamps operate by discharging an electrical arc through a blend of inert gases and mercury vapor housed within a specialized quartz glass tube. The primary wavelength of 254 nm is particularly effective in breaking the molecular bonds within microbial DNA, thus preventing their growth and reproduction. Instant start lamps offered by UVC Spectrum begin operation by applying sufficient voltage to initiate the arc, simplifying electrical requirements despite their limited lifetimes. Preheat operation lamps, on the other hand, heat their electrodes before discharge initiation, using a starter switch mechanism. This method extends filament life by preheating, which is crucial for higher power, low-pressure lamps. The lamp codes 'G' and 'GPH' distinguish instant start and preheat operation types, respectively.
