PRABVertical Axis Crushers

SHARE

Wet chips and turnings are introduced into the crusher by using a plant wide conveyor system or an automated dump feed system with standard barrels or chip carts. Turnings are fed into the feed hopper which directs the material down into the crusher`s fixed cast cutters and rotating feeder arm that reduces the metal into smaller pieces. Final crushing is done within fixed rotating cutting rings. The solids ejector automatically discharges bar-ends, maximizing uptime and protecting your low-maintenance equipment from damage.

Features

  • Reduces up to six times the amount of material
  • Produces material up to 4,000 lb/hr (1 814 kg/hr)
  • Increases the efficiency in reclaiming cutting fluids and coolants
  • Lowers transportation costs and reduces housekeeping maintenance

Options

  • Further down stream processing of reduced material may include centrifuging or briquetting to separate fluids from solids
  • Automated storage and load out systems may also be incorporated

Produces volume reductions of 6:1 or higher on some metals. Ideally suited for handling wet, bushy wads of stringy turnings in continuous operations. PRAB’s Vertical Axis Crusher (VAC) is designed to reduce ton after ton of material into shovel-grade consistent, flowable chips with ease and efficiency. Wet chips and turnings may be introduced into the VAC using a plant wide conveyor system or an automated dump feed system with standard barrels or chip carts. Further down stream processing of reduced material may include centrifuging or briquetting to separate fluids from solids. Automated storage and load out systems may also be incorporated.

  • High volume continuous reduction
  • Efficient, low motor power, low speed, quiet operation
  • Crushes steel, alloys and nonferrous turnings
  • Heavy-duty cast alloy processing hopper
  • Positive feed with fixed cast cutters and rotating feeder arm
  • Wear components - Cutting / crushing components are easily replaceable
  • Standard motors, bearings, and belts for easy maintenance
  • Automatic solids ejector system
  • Covered by PRAB’s one-year warranty

Metal turnings are fed into the VAC’s feed hopper (illust. item 5) which directs the material down into the crusher’s cast alloy hopper (illust. item 6). Fixed cast cutters (illust. item 4) and rotating feeder arm (illust. item 3) reduce the turnings into small pieces. Final crushing is done within the fixed cutting ring (illust. item 7) located in the base of the unit.

Under normal operation the solids ejector (illust. item 2) on the rotating / fixed cutting ring system (illust. item 7) is closed. When a bar-end is encountered, the ejector snaps open allowing the solid to be discharged. The ejector automatically closes for continued operation.
