Stevens - Viper
Viper is a data acquisition platform that offers features comparable to the Stevens’ Steelhead system. It enables remote configuration, data processing, alarm notifications, and system interaction through secure online access from any location. The Viper is specifically designed for long-term temperature monitoring of high-powered utility electricity systems using PT100 temperature sensors. It allows for quick setup—typically within a few minutes—and it begins logging data and generating reports based on specified intervals and alarm conditions. The system is configured to log data every four hours and produce reports every 24 hours, supporting continuous operation for up to 10 years on internal batteries without the need for charging or calibration. The Viper is an underground transformer monitoring solution, designed for long-term deployment and is extremely affordable.
According to a 2021 U.S. Commerce Department report, the average age of large power transformers used in electricity distribution in the U.S. is 38 years, with 70% of transformers older than 25 years (1). There are~ 5.1 million “aged” underground transformers in the U.S.
The Viper Solution is easily deployed in a few minutes and begins logging data and reporting based on the required intervals and on alarm conditions. We recommend logging every four hours and reporting every 24 hours to generate the required data while allowing up to 10 years of continuous service on internal battery without any charging or calibration.
The SkyView360 platform is customizable for each customer’s requirements for monitoring, alarming, and management.
