Lowe Engineering - Wastewater Monitoring System
Increasingly stringent consent limits for environmental discharges have led to a significant increase in the monitoring of Waste Water Streams.
Lowe Engineering are pioneers in the design and manufacture of turnkey sampling and analyser packages tailored to individual site specifications.
Dependent upon the applicable IPC guidance notes parameters such as trace Chlorine, Oil in water, TOC, Ammonia, Turbidity / Suspended Solids, pH, Conductivity and temperature may now require continuous monitoring, often in addition to the collection of flow proportional or event triggered batch sample.
Such monitoring is not only applied to traditional "problem" streams such as contaminated drains, but also to extracted cooling water being returned to a river or estuary.
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES...
One of the principal difficulties which clients and contractors experience in this area is appropriately constructing a specification to ensure an operable, trouble free system.
Factors such as particle size distribution, degree of aeration or the presence of surfactants can dramatically affect the feasibility of sampling or the extent of conditioning required.
Selection of the sampling point is absolutely crucial to successful system design and can either exacerbate or avoid problems in such areas. Details such as these are often given scant consideration or omitted altogether from the specifications.
The consequential cost of ensuring delays and modifications can be quite disproportionate to the cost of a properly designed and engineered system.
in the design office
Lowe can be of vital service in assisting clients to "ask the right questions" in order to eliminate the major pitfalls in the system specification.
and on site
It has also to be recognised that some of the factors crucial to successful design for Waste Water Applications cannot always be specified in advance. In such cases Lowe are able to offer a unique combination of experience, targeted site tests and the rigorous application of process engineering principles in the solution of sampling problems.
Where an optimum sampling point cannot be found, it may be necessary to include solids removal or de-aeration within the sampling system. Scale-up from experimental site work can be the key to getting this right - first time.
