Conductivity measurements are read from 0-80,000 μS/cm with readings giving accuracy of 5% of reading or 100 μS (which ever is greater).

Water level and probe depth measurements are read off the Solinst durable PVDF flat tape, which is accurately laser marked every millimeter. Tape lengths are now available up to 300m.

Temperature and conductivity measurement, model 107

Measuring the electrical conductivity of groundwater allows you to draw conclusions about the total mineral content in the water. With the waterproof measuring probe, temperature and conductivity profiles can be established very easily. With the conductivity measurement it is also possible to measure inputs of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, sulphate, nitrate and acidifying substances to the groundwater. The impact of winter road maintenance or landfills on the water can thus be detected.

Measure electrical conductivity, temperature and water level with one device

The Model 107 is ideal for measuring water levels at groundwater monitoring wells. It can also be used to create temperature profiles and electrical conductivity profiles. The conductivity and temperature can be read on the integrated LCD display. The measuring range extends from 0 to 80000µS/cm and offers an accuracy of at least 5% or 100µS/cm. No sampling of groundwater is required for the measurement, it is carried out in parallel with the level measurement. The temperature can be measured in the range from -15°C to +50°C. The groundwater level as well as the position of the probe can be read off the durable measuring tape made of plastic (PVDF). The measuring tape is available in lengths of up to 300m with a matching drum. Furthermore, the measuring tape offers a laser marking with millimetre graduation.

Electrical conductivity in groundwater

Electrical conductivity depends on the salt content of the water. The higher the content of positively and negatively charged ions in the groundwater, the more conductive it becomes. Therefore, measuring conductivity is a good way to estimate the total mineral content.
Anthropogenic inputs of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, sulphate, nitrate and acidifying substances into groundwater lead to an increase in electrical conductivity. In addition, wastewater from the chemical industry and leachate from municipal and industrial landfills can lead to a significant increase in electrical conductivity in groundwater.
