Wet Scrubber
Liku-Tech / Likusta Umwelttechnik GmbH - Germany offers Chemical based wet Scrubbers that are efficiently and effectively designed to remove gas pollutants. Often these pollutants are chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, chlorine or sulfur compounds. Chemical Scrubbers work by dissolving or absorbing the pollutant into the scrubbing liquid. The scrubbing liquid used will depend on the properties of the targeted pollutant. High efficiency removal of many gas pollutants is common in many applications. Chemical based wet scrubber selection will depend on the operating process characteristics and the particular pollutant(s) that is being removed. We work closely with our customers to determine the appropriate technology to use depending on their process and the application.
With absorption (scrubbing), water-soluble substances are absorbed or dissolved from the waste gas in a liquid by physical-chemical means. For this purpose, the gas stream is brought into contact with a liquid stream. Using absorption, solid, liquid or gaseous substances from the gas stream can pass into the liquid.
A high purity of the waste gas can be ensured without pollutants or disturbing odours. Simultaneously, Likusta scrubbers guarantee a low-concentrate residual product quantity.
Typical fields of application are
- Oxidising gas scrubbing of sewage gases
- Ammonia deposition
- Amine scrubbing
- Flue gas desulphurisation
Our gas scrubbers are individually tailored to specific customer requirements. Likusta offers a large number of different types of scrubbers.
- Counter-flow scrubber
- Cross-flow scrubber
- Direct-flow scrubber
They can also be constructed in several stages or, for example, serve merely as emergency units.
Different designs are possible depending on the application
- Single-stage - multi-stage
- Indoor or outdoor installation
- Round - square
- Standing - lying
- Plastic - Stainless steel
- Compact
For process engineering, advanced software is available. A Likusta test unit can also be provided as an option to assist in the basic design of a waste-gas scrubbing system.
The selection of the materials is determined by the use case. Strongly acidic or alkaline media are corrosive. Extreme climatic conditions, e.g. in the vicinity of the equator, are an additional burden on the systems.
The materials used are PE, PP, PVDF, PVC and glass fibre in composite construction. The systems can also be supplied in stainless steel.
The application areas for gas scrubbers as well as the specific technical requirements are described in the VDI guidelines:
- VDI 2443 Waste-gas treatment by oxidising gas scrubbing
- VDI 3674 Waste-gas treatment by adsorption - process gas and waste-gas treatment
- VDI 3679 Sheet 1 Wet separator - Basics, waste-gas treatment of particulate matter
- VDI 3679 Sheet 2 Wet separator - Basics, waste-gas treatment by absorption (scrubber)
- VDI 3679 Sheet 3 Wet separator - Trickling separator
- VDI 3679 Sheet 4 Wet separator - Basics, waste-gas treatment by oxidising gas scrubbing
