Global Omnium was founded in 1890 with the aim of serving the city of Valencia, has shown growth and expansion to become the first company in Spain operating in the water sector.

Widely established in the country, providing services to more than 300 municipalities in 11 regions, it facilitates the supply of drinking water to 3 million people, and treats wastewater from about 3 million inhabitants. In recent years, and with the commitment to providing unparalleled service quality, Global Omnium has initiated various international projects from Africa, Asia and Latinoamérica.

After 125 years, Global Omnium is an active operator that remains true to basic principles such as meeting the real needs of its customers and constitute a real dynamizer for the sustainable economic, as well as social and environmental, development in the regions and countries in which it operates .

Mindful to the different national or international business opportunities that may arise in the Integrated Water Cycle, the company celebrates its 125 year of history with the deserved recognition coming from brilliant management of water resources based on objective and transparent criteria.

Global Omnium was founded in 1890. The company was born under the name of Sociedad de Aguas Potables y Mejoras de Valencia, S.A., aimed at modernizing the water supply of the city of Valencia by building ponds, filters and deposits in the banks of Turia River.In June 1988 its name was changed to Grupo Aguas de Valencia, that has evolved to eventually become Global Omnium. Today, and with 125 years of life already, it enjoy the recognition and stability needed to address sustainable growth in the new territories and contracts where added value can be provided.

The remarkable development of Global Omnium in recent years is largely achieved thanks to the search for differentiation through constant innovation.

Thus, to cite just a few examples that demonstrate this strategic positioning, it is worth mentioning the leadership in the domestic market in the management ofsmart meters,currently operating 650,000 units;the generation of biogas from sludge treatment of sewage at treatment plants, leading the LIFE ECODIGESTION project, which aims to increasing the production of biogas as renewable energy; or the development by the Group laboratory a revolutionary method for the detection of Legionella,practicable in 24 hours, compared with 10-15 days it takes for current methods.

A group continually expanding

In recent years, Global Omnium has reactivated itsinternational expansion.The main premise leading this sustainable growth strategy is simply to ensure the future development and synergies with other business in new territories and the various activities that are incorporated into its management.In this regard, the group bets on those projects where it can consolidate its presence without creating additional risks to the Company`s shareholders.

Proof of this is its transparency in water management through the sharing of initiatives developed from the public and private sectors. Global Omnium, along with municipal companies Aguas de Málaga and Sociedad Municipal Aguas de Burgos, and the joint Aguas de Calpe, has joined the project Best Values. Powered by the European Union, and led in Spain by the Government of Cantabria through the public entity MARE (Environment, Water, Waste and Energy), affiliated to the Department of Environment, evidence their commitment to more effective management at customers` service.

Global Omnium is the first Spanish private company that incorporates this accreditation of risk management as a strategic variable, since 2013, thanks to the advice of the division of strategic consulting of Groupo Morera & Vallejo, it managed the technical specification AENOR EA31:2013. The Grupo Morera & Vallejo, and the Andalusian Institute of Technology (IAT) also participate in the Best Values project. This technical specification certifies that the group has implemented a Risk Management System, which helps to minimize global risks that can affect organizations, ensuring their sustainability and the achievement of their objectives.

Global Omnium has certified its development thanks to the clear identification of its centennial experience, its values and their contribution to society.For this reason, the Group established Aywa Environmental Services, along with the Grupo Morera & Vallejo and the Rusvel-Heliopol Group to operate in Andalusia with the mission of contributing to the fulfillment of the Directive for Wastewater Treatment in this community, providing all his background in theconstruction, operation and maintenance of facilities related to Integrated Water Cycle.

Global Omnium also has reactivated its international expansion. Further to the projects carried out inCosta Rica and Venezuela, the group actively participated in the Study for the Flooding of Santa Magdalena River in Barrancabermeja (Colombia), where topographic and bathymetric analysis were conducted to prevent recurring overflow.

Not only do the projects reach Latin America, but also Africa. Global Omnium advises the government of Angola, through the National Water Directorate of the Ministry of Energy and Water of the Republic of Angola (MINEA), about water management at Malanje. The mission of the company is to assist in the implementation of the Water Authority of Malanje and the subsequent management of the integrated water cycle in the area. Besides the contribution to its implementation, technicians from Global Omnium train Aguas de Malanje to achieve its growth from 30,000 customers to half a million inhabitants in 15 municipalities of the province.
