Archaeology For Remediation
By their very nature, a large number of the civil engineering and remediation projects undertaken by VHE, have involved extensive earthworks operations. A key element of these involves historical research during design development to establish the historical significance of the site.
Should potential historical provenance be identified then archaeologists can very often be involved in our operations. On sites of relatively minor significance, this may involve a watching brief where an archaeologist will be present on site to observe our earthworks operations. They will then be able to identify whether any significant artefacts are uncovered worthy of removal for further examination.
On more historically significant sites, full scale archaeological digs may be carried out in advance of our operations. This will allow the full extent of the site to be uncovered, documented, measured and photographed before the main site operations commence.
