A full range of services to provide underwater support for marine projects - welding , burning, shuttering & concreting, pile and fender removal / replacement, seabed surveys, inspections, concrete repairs.Shearwater have been carrying out this type of work since 1991 for various Local Councils, Engineering firms and Civils Contractors such as RJ McLeod, George Leslie, Mowlem Marine & Edmund Nuttall to name but a few.
GATE REPLACEMENT CALEDONIAN CANAL - INVERNESS
Shearwater were contracted by RJ McLeod, Dingwall to povide the neccessary dive support during the replacement of the gates at Dochgarroch Locks and Clachnaharry Locks - the northern end of the canal that enters the Moray Firth.
As an approved contractor to British Waterways, Shearwater were subjected to rigourous safety checks,prior to commencing operations and during the actual diving operations. Work included the installation of temporary cills and side channels ; drilled, dowelled and grouted into the canal floors and walls, prior to the installation of central `king posts` and stop logs. Once installed the divers then sealed the joints before the locks were successfully pumped dry.
