Competent Person Service
Good competent health and safety advice is fundamental to the good management of business health and safety. For a company or organisation to be able to properly manage health and safety, it needs quality, expert health and safety advice input into the organisation and its management. It is a legal requirement. Legislation requires that an employer must appoint sufficient competent person/s to provide health and safety help. A competent person is one who has sufficient training with experience and knowledge that allows them to properly advise and assist you.
The purpose of the law is to ensure that you have access to specialist advice and assistance where required, either through the appointed suitable person within your organisation, or by using a consultant at OMS.
Many of our clients have appointed us as their competent person, and whilst this does not absolve you of responsibility under UK law, it will give the reassurance that the job is being done in line with the law and to a high and professional standard.
