RPS has been undertaking environmental assessments since before the European Council Directive 85/337/EEC (the EIA Directive) came into force in the UK in 1985. In an average year RPS Planning & Development may undertake between 40 and 60 impact assessments, primarily for private sector clients. We have considerable experience of undertaking environmental assessments in accordance with the following legislation. Our philosophy is that the design of projects, both large and small, should be an iterative process between the client, the scheme designer, and the environmental consultants/assessors. For the majority of the assessments of major transport projects we have undertaken we have been involved from an early stage in the scheme development and have been able to influence the design, sometimes significantly.Most popular related searches

RPS is a Registered Assessor Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), a status conferred only on those Environmental Consultancies that have demonstrated that their work is of the highest quality. The group is also a founder member of the Association of Environmental Consultants and a member of the CBA Environmental Business Forum and the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA).
RPS can provide all of the technical studies necessary to undertake or review EIAs including air quality, transport, noise, contaminated land, flood risk, landscape and visual, waste and ecology. For all of these areas and others we have experienced staff that can provide Expert Witness support.
