Overview and detailed knowledge
In connection with acquisitions and irrespective of the size thereof it is important to acquire an overview and to perform a detailed analysis of the risks and problems related to environmental law. An increasingly important part of the work undertaken by the firm is to identify, foresee and present solutions to existing and potential problems in corporate and real estate transactions. For instance, the advice may relate to commercial risk allocation between buyers and sellers or being able to identify and assess a company’s regulatory compliance pertaining to subsisting permits and licences.
The firm advises on identifying the party responsible for remediation of contaminated sites or other forms of damage to the environment, e.g. in situations where several companies have been conducting operations at the same location over a long period of time. The firm also advises on product liability, chemicals management and other issues which often arise in relation to environmentally hazardous activities and water operations.
We also advise on supervisory matters and can liaise with regulatory authorities in connection with changes to production and processing as well as the consequences thereof to any existing permits and licences.
Vinge has considerable experience of strategic considerations relating to permitting issues and assists clients in matters relating to interested parties such as county administrative boards, municipalities, public authorities and the public. We also draft permit applications in respect of assessments regarding environmentally hazardous activities and water operations or in connection with appeals concerning such permits and licences.
The firm’s environmental lawyers also possess specialist knowledge of environmental considerations and exemptions regarding protected areas such as Natura 2000 areas, protected species, rights of public access to beaches and waterways and water protection areas.
