Environmental Permitting Service

SHARE

Mannvit is a leader in the drafting of environmental operating permits (EOP) for companies whose activities may involve the emission of pollutants. Often the granting of environmental permits are dependent on an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.  Mannvit also specializes in both the handling of EIA`s and EOP`s, streamlining the process for our clients. The permitting process is based on Icelandic regulation no. 785/1999 which is based on European legislations.

As the lead member of HRV Engineering, Mannvit has acted as a consultant in the preparatory phases for the building, maintenance, expansion, and operation of all the aluminum plants in Iceland. As a result, we are experts in providing strategic engineering advice and services.

In the environmental permitting process, Mannvit`s role is also to help facilitate between the developer and the EOP publisher - in most cases the Environmental Agency. For aluminum plants and the heavy industry, the operating permit is primarily focused on the following factors: air dispersion from the plants, waste management, the production process of the plant, handling of raw materials, storage, and the handling of waste/pollution connected with these factors. In contrast, for the geothermal power plants, the operating permit focuses primarily on air dispersion and the diverse handling of water.

Assistance with funding applications and licensing procedures
The Mannvit team provides its Clients with the applications necessary for funding and developing a geothermal exploration project, for European and trans-border funding schemes. These applications require detailed project descriptions regarding the geothermal resources and the specific technology used in the geothermal development process.

In the licensing portion of a geothermal exploration project, all applicable regulatory content are systematically reviewed by the Mannvit team in order to assist the Client in the acquisition of land and geothermal development. This task requires the defining of the environmental framework and the review of all relevant regulations (e.g. water protection, air quality, nature conservation, noise emission) that will define the scope of the Environmental Impact Assessment.
