As energy and ecological activities are closely interrelated, specific environmental expertise is essential in order to operate in the sector of industrial utilities.Environmental services have become one of EDF Fenice’s major areas of business, not restricted simply to environment-related activities and research addressing industrial activities and processes but also including environmental consulting and services for major works – in both the public and private sectors – involving ecological, biological, bio-chemical and bio-physical laboratory activities.
Today, EDF Fenice’s integrated offer, which also comprises solid industrial and urban waste treatment (through energy-from-waste processes at its own plants), comprises 5 main areas of business:

EDF FENICE’S Environmental Services Centre (ESC)
The Environmental Services Centre (ESC), a specialist division of EDF Fenice, responsible for environmental consulting and related activities in the industrial and public sectors, has been providing specific ecology and environmental hygiene services for various years. It operates through two analysis laboratories at Rivoli (Province of Turin) and Pomigliano d`Arco (Province of Naples) equipped with state-of-the-art research and analysis instrumentation and around 100 researchers and technicians specialised in various environment-related topics.
The ESC, accredited by ACCREDIA* (formerly known as Sinal) since 1998, is able to carry out all the tests to verify that the analyses carried out at the centre (analysis of primary, waste and drinking water, of industrial and urban waste, land, atmospheric emissions, working environments and products and raw materials for technological uses) comply with quality standards in order to guarantee a reliable, impartial service.
