Excavation and grading operations involve more than simply moving dirt. Finish grade tolerance, compaction, soil mechanics and recognizing hazardous conditions all must be taken into consideration. Many projects completed by USA involve the physical movement of materials in one form or another. We own a variety of earth moving equipment including track-mounted hydraulic excavators, track dozers, wheel loaders, and vibratory compactors. Our operators are some of the best in the business. Many of our Superintendents began their careers in heavy highway or underground utility construction.

We have completed a variety of difficult excavation projects. These include excavation of chlorinated impacted soil inside occupied buildings (dry cleaners), excavation of contaminated soil adjacent to load bearing walls and structures, and excavation to expose active natural gas and petroleum pipelines. USA was instrumental in completion of the largest excavation project ever performed in the City of Houston, the Toyota Center - Houston's Downtown Arena. USA was the first contractor on-site performing excavation services and ultimately removed more than 120,000 cubic yards of Class II non-hazardous soil.
USA employees have been trained in accordance with OSHA Subpart P, Excavations. We will have a designated 'Competent Person' who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards or working conditions that are hazardous, unsanitary, or dangerous to employees and who are authorized to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate or control these hazards.
