Extraction Services
Not everyone gets their drinking water from the Mains supply, and you may be one of the thousands of people across the Lake District, Cumbria or Derbyshire areas that get their water from non-mains sources. This could mean you harvest rainwater, collect river water from the fell, use a Borehole to extract water from the Aquifer (water bearing rock) or pump water up from a well, often fed via an underground spring. Borehole drilling is a specialism and we use trusted sub-contractors for this, but harvesting spring water or rainwater is usually via a simple system of collection and storage in a tank.
Whichever method you prefer, we can advise you on the best way to collect and store your water.
Bespoke Solutions for Private Water Supplies.
If you get your drinking water from a natural source, like a spring or by harvesting rainwater, rather than from the Mains supply, we can provide you with all the equipment you will need to make sure it’s safe and pleasant to drink. Firstly, it’s important to have the water tested.
Often, our referrals come from Environmental Health officers who carry out routine drinking water sampling as part of their day to day work. Samples are sent off to the Public Health Lab and the results will reveal not only basic information, such as the pH and hardness of the water, but also the bacterial load, the presence of Coliforms or other pathogens, as well as details about taste, clarity and odour.
For a small charge, we can also arrange for a full water test to be carried out for you.
Where the test results reveal a problem, this is where we get involved.
