People often ask what sets us apart from all our competitors. Firstly, we’ve been doing this for longer than most, if not all, and have surveyed and designed drainage on tens of thousands of acres throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta over the past decade. Secondly, when you hire us you get us, not some hired help, to come and survey and design your drainage – some of our Alberta clients even fly Simon & Joel in from Manitoba to have them consult on projects. Thirdly, our team includes two Master’s Degree holders in GIS and geospatial technologies, and we’re the only company to have developed our own software programs to use in drainage design and survey applications. Fourth, we aren’t going to force you to hire us to implement the works, and we’ll provide you with designs that are based on performance rather than being the most profitable for a contractor. Finally, when it comes to implementation, we can act as a general contractor to oversee the entire project, we can refer you to a trusted installer, we can help you get setup with your own equipment, or we can help you work with whatever equipment you already have.

1. FIELD TOPO SURVEY
We generally require that you agree to us undertaking a topography survey as this is the only way we can be 100% confident in the data upon which we’ll base our recommendations and reputation. In some cases we may be able to use your collected data or that from a reputable UAV service provider. Where we are taking responsibility for the design, calculations, and regulatory compliance we will need to be extremely confident in the data we use.

2. DRAINAGE SYSTEM DESIGN
Once we have collected accurate elevation data, we set about designing your drainage layout. We use a combination of GIS software packages to process and filter the data, then create base maps to help us determine the best layout options for each field. We then design the system, testing the viability of every pipe or ditch to ensure it ‘fits’ within required depth and gradient parameters. For tile drainage design, we also determine the required pipe sizes, depths, and pipe spacing.

3. PERMIT APPLICATION ASSISTANCE
We’ll provide professional drainage layout drawings complete with specifications typically requested by regulators. For tile and major surface drainage projects we also prepare a professional report that provides detailed information on the proposed project along with potential impacts and mitigation measures. For sensitive projects we can also call upon an engineer to assess potential impacts and stamp our drawings. Presenting a proposed drainage design created by a professional consulting company adds credibility to your application, and demonstrates your commitment to getting things done the right way.

4. PROJECT SPECS & CONSULTATIONS
When you are ready to commence your project we’ll provide the required specifications and parameters for you or your installer to follow. On tile projects these include min/max/target install depths and required grades for mains and sub-mains. We’ll also take care of getting you the materials you need where you need them.
