When protecting a pipeline on the inside the most important limitation is the diameter of the structure. Acotec has technologies available to safely and with the utmost attention to quality protect the inside of a steel or concrete pipe structure. To find the best solution for your problem, we must first make a difference in existing and new structures and a difference in diameter as the limit is 80cm (32 inch).
A. New structure with dia > 80cm (32inch)
New pipeline structures are mostly precoated in a workshop before the pipeline sections are welded together. This means that sections of 6 meter or 12 meter length can be easily coated by manual application. When there are lots of pipeline sections to be coated, an automated application can be installed. After welding the precoated sections together, a manual repair is possible at the welding joints.
B. New structure with dia < 80cm (32 inch)
When a pipe section is precoated in a workshop and the diameter is too small for a manual application, an automated application will be installed.
Once the pipe sections are welded together, the coating material will be damaged at the welding joints. For a full integrated protection system, Acotec offers a robotical system to repair the welding joints.
The full equipped robot includes:
- inspection equipment
- lighting
- video monitoring
- mechanical cleaning equipment
- dedusting machine
- coating application robots
This robot is able to protect pipelines from 10cm (4 inch) up to 80cm (32 inch) in any kind of angle or cornered pipe sections.
C. Existing structure with dia > 80cm (32 inch)
When the diameter is 80cm (inch) or more, the complete renovation or corrosion protection of the pipe can be done manually. A full team of skilled people from Acotec are able to remove the corrosion of existing structures, prepare the structure according to ISO12944 and finally apply the Humidur coatings for a maintenance-free corrosion protection system.
Acotec has systems available for safely move and work through the penstocks or pipelines in a certain angle (from 0° to 90°).
D. Existing structure with dia < 80cm (32 inch)
A pipe or pipeline with several kilometers length needs a maintenance job every couple of years. Acotec offers systems for full cleaning, preparing and coating application with the highest level of quality. The diameter of the pipeline structure can start from 10cm (4inch) up to 80cm (32 inch). Once the diameter is bigger, a manual rehabilitation is possible. However, the robotical system remains to be an option in case of large pipe lengths.
