Land Use Management Services
Habitat Management staff includes biologists, botanists, and range management specialists who are experienced in designing, assembling, and implementing land use plans for a variety of clients to achieve their individual needs and goals.
Range Management
Range Management
A Ranch and Range Management Plan is an essential part of any animal operation and responsible land stewardship. Habitat Management can help you design and establish an effective management plan. We use the current operation outlook, and the short-term and long-term goals to help our clients create a management plan that increases the biological awareness, production capacity, historic and cultural preservation, education and overall health of the operation.
Forest, Fire and Grazing Plans
We develop and implement short and long term forest management plans that meet our clients’ diverse objectives. From prescribed fire plans, to short-duration, high-intensity livestock grazing systems on reclaimed mine lands, our land-use plans increase soil microbial activity, vegetation cover and forage production. We also perform forest and rangeland improvement work.
Noxious Weed Inventories and Management
Noxious weeds are a concern for landowners due to their effect on land value and natural resource management plans. From identifying and treating noxious weeds to designing custom seed mixtures, our vegetation specialists develop and execute effective vegetation management and targeted weed control plans. We develop weed management plans that prioritize the needs and goals of our clients taking into consideration applicable laws and regulations regarding pesticide safety, equipment safety and environmental concerns. We use backpack and ATV equipment for spot and broadcast applications. We also provide record-keeping and periodic reporting, GPS and GIS mapping, and control effectiveness evaluations. We are Certified Pesticide Applicators in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
IRMP’s & NRDA’s
Habitat Management has experience creating and implementing Integrated Resource Management Plans (IRMPs) and Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDAs). An effective IRMP clearly describes cultural, environmental and socioeconomic development opportunities, with an evaluation of long-term resource management policies. In coordination with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), we have assisted tribes in developing their IRMPs. With a comprehensive IRMP in place, tribal governments are better able to assess tribal resources and develop action plans to manage them. We develop management strategies that provide direction and stability for the sustained growth of tribal economies, while preserving traditional values and protecting sensitive resources. We provide a full range of services to manage NRDA liabilities, from identifying and quantifying impacts on natural resources, to developing emergency response, through restoration project design.
