Dem-Con Landfill has been in operation since 1985 and incorporates approximately 120 acres of permitted landfill airspace in Louisville Township. Over Dem-Con`s history, the company has worked well with the local governments of Louisville Township and Scott County as well as the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Environmental protection is a main objective of a land disposal facility and Dem-Con has implemented an infrastructure to ensure protection of the environment. Dem-Con installed a liner and leachate collection system that collects all rain and snow melt water that comes in contact with waste materials. This water is collected, tanked and trucked to St. Paul for treatment. A landfill is an important part of an integrated solid waste management system that also includes waste reduction and recycling.
