Life Cycle Assessment
In contrast to a carbon footprint, which focuses on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) assess the impacts of a product or service across a wide range of environmental issues.
In addition to GHG emissions, LCA assesses impacts including resource use, land use, water use, toxicity, eutrophication and acidification.
By assessing wider issues, a more comprehensive understanding of your impact on the environment can be identified and a balanced approach to improving green performance achieved. This is important, as reducing carbon emissions may be detrimental to other, wider environmental impacts.
