Each LCA requires information to feed the model. We often call the data collection for an LCA the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) stage. start2see has extensive experience collecting LCI data for a range of clients. We typically devise a data collection strategy based on the needs and budget of our clients: 1) The simplest procedure is where we develop a fit-for-purpose data collection form that our client populates. This is a quick and hasle-free approach. 2) In a more complex situation we visit the client on-site where we manage the data collection. Although this might seem an expensive method, we find that it often speeds up the time needed to gather all the information (and thus reduces the timeframe needed for the project)), and there are less risks of data gaps in the inventory (leading to better quality outcomes). When all cost factors are taken into account, there is often a cost benefit to the client.
