Low Carbon Market Development Service
The Low Carbon Market Development Project was a Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project with the aim to increase the market for renewable energy in the region and to help grow the renewable energy companies within the environmental technologies sector.
In particular the project aimed to raise awareness and improve understanding about the use of renewable energy within businesses and community groups and address finance, planning and grid barriers through:
- Promotion of the uptake of renewable energy in businesses and community groups through the provision of advice and support on the selection of suitable renewable energy technologies, feasibility studies and assistance with planning, finance and grid connections.
- Working to support planning departments, distribution network operators and the finance community to understand renewable energy projects and how they can help facilitate the deployment of renewable energy.
- Providing the right networking opportunities for suppliers and buyers of renewable energy technologies to help grow the local renewable energy sector.
The Low Carbon Market Development Project worked with: businesses and community groups interested in installing renewable energy; local authorities, distribution networks operators and the finance community to help facilitate renewable energy projects; and renewable energy suppliers and installers.
