The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is a reporting program maintained by Environment Canada to keep track of pollutant releases to air, water, and land, as well as pollutant disposal and recycling. Environment Canada publishes annual notices in the Canada Gazette requiring mandatory reporting to the NPRI if certain thresholds are met. Reporting is done online using Environment Canada’s Single Window Information Manager (SWIM) website.

O. Reg. 127/01 is a reporting program mandated by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment which is similar to the NPRI, except that at this time it only applies to acetone (a substance not captured in the scope of the NPRI’s defined pollutants). O. Reg. 127/01 is a partner program to the NPRI, and reporting is done online using the SWIM website in the same report as NPRI reporting.

ORTECH staff have a thorough knowledge of NPRI and O. Reg. 127/01, reporting requirements, and can ensure that your facility is taking advantage of all possible exemptions to make your reporting as streamlined as possible. ORTECH also has experience in working with the SWIM website and can walk your company through the often frustrating process of submitting reports to Environment Canada online.
