NEPA/Permitting Services
In the last 30 years, there has been a rise in environmental awareness that has fundamentally changed the way airport development projects are undertaken. In the US, since the passage of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the process of approval of major airport development now requires extensive quantitative evaluation of the aeronautical, environmental, and economic consequences of a broad spectrum of options. Concern over environmental issues, in particular noise and air emissions, has become one of the greatest hurdles to implementing new development at airports. Consequently, much of our environmental work is focused on gaining environmental approvals for airport development projects by preparing project assessments.
Services Details
In complying with the requirements of the NEPA, the project assessment can take the form of Environmental Assessment (EA), Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and state and local environmental processing. L&B has successfully guided clients through this process in the most controversial of situations and our staff is well versed in the preparation of legally defensible environmental assessments and impact statements that address environmental factors such as noise, economic impacts, air quality, climate change, water resources issues, historic and cultural resources, and endangered species.
