Oily Millscale Sludge Treatment

Steel Mills generate oily millscale sludge in the rolling mill, and the landfill disposal route is expensive owing to the hazardous nature of the material. As an alternative to landfill, a technology developed for the oil industry has been successfully adapted for processing this material in a steel mill environment. The plant has a small footprint and can be easily retrofitted to the current mill location. A clean scale is recovered, and can be recycled back into the steel production process. The residual oil is recovered for upgrading or sale.
