- Meet with the Client to determine extent of maintenance/rehabilitation based on available funds
- Utilize either non-destructive or destructive data collection processes to evaulate existing pavement
- Non-Destructive: Falling Weight Deflection Testing (FWD), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), perform visual Pavement Distress Survey of existing pavements such as longitudinal and lateral cracking, alligator cracking, potholes, raveling and rutting
- Destructive: drill test holes to determine the subsurface soil profile, pavement thickness and to obtain samples for laboratory testing; conduct a laboratory testing program to determine the engineering characteristics of the materials at the site
- Develop geotechnical conclusions and recommendations regarding the condition of the existing pavement, rehabilitation alternatives, and future maintenance/rehabilitation
- Provide our comments and recommendations regarding maintenance/rehabilitation alternatives
- Provide suggested material specifications as they relate to the maintenance/rehabilitation of the pavements including but not limited to the following:
- Asphalt grading requirements
- Crack seal requirements
- Asphalt testing requirements
- Asphalt lay down requirements
- Removal of asphalt mat (planing) requirements
- Concrete specifications for cross pan replacement
- Concrete reinforcing requirements
- Subgrade compaction requirements
- Geotextile requirements
- Pavement marking (paint) requirements
- Construction zone traffic control (phasing)
- Contract time
- Mark areas to be overlaid, removed, patched, sealed, etc. and determine quantities of each for bidding purposes
- Generate bid package and meet with potential bidders regarding project
- Issue bid schedule and award contract
- Conduct pre-construction meeting
- Resident/Tenant coordination regarding construction phasing and access
- On-site construction manager during construction
- Provide materials testing for concrete/asphalt
- Coordination with the City/County if required
- Final inspection
- Final quantity determination
- Project closeout/punch list
