Pipe Bursting

SHARE

As part of the pipe bursting procedure (also referred to as `burstlining`), the old pipe is destroyed, the broken fragments are pressed into the surrounding earth and the new pipe is fed into the resulting channel. Old pipes comprising vitrified clay, concrete, cast iron, steel or fibre cement can be rehabilitated using this procedure. The materials used for the new pipes are mainly HDPE pipe with protective characteristics, but also steel pipe, ductile cast-iron pipe and PP pipe. In the channel area short pipe elements are often used for the new pipe in order to keep trenches as small as possible, or even to enable insertion through the shaft. The pipe bursting procedure is a highly cost-effective and efficient method.
