Risk Assessment Service

SHARE
While Ontario Site Condition Standards or other regulatory remediation standards provide cleanup targets that can be applied at the vast majority of properties, these values are based on conservative assumptions that may overstate the risks/hazards a particular chemical may pose to human health or the environment for many sites.  As a result, at some locations remediation to “generic” standards may impose an unnecessary financial burden on the property owner.

Through Risk Assessment, Terrapex’s team of engineering, geoscience and environmental specialists can use actual site conditions and land-use characteristics to evaluate exposure pathways and scenarios, and develop site‑specific cleanup targets that provide appropriate protection for human health and the environment.

In many instances, it may be possible to use Risk Management measures to mitigate eliminate exposure pathways, thereby reducing or even eliminating the need to complete active remediation efforts.

Our team is experienced in navigating the Ministry of the Environment risk assessment process and in working with clients and their real estate management/development professionals and legal counsel for the application of rigorous scientific and engineering principals in the development of practical and technically sound risk-based remediation solutions.
