RNA plays an important and diverse role in cells. It is part of ribosomes and spliceosomes and also shows catalytic activity. What many of these functions have in common is the interaction between RNA and protein. For example, specific tRNA binds with aminoacyl -tRNA synthetase during protein synthesis to translate genetic code, and ribonucleoprotein granule binds to RNA in post transcriptional regulation of gene expression.
