The gravity sewer system for the transportation of wastewater and stormwater in Germany has historic origins and is established country-wide in closed and open channel systems. In particular over the last three decades, numerous statutory regulations have come into force which were to standardise both the planning, construction and the operation of sewer systems. Of particular significance is the examination and expansion of existing sewerage systems with a view to the legal requirements.
