Based in the Holy Loch at the entrance to the River Clyde from the Firth of Clyde. Shearwater are ideally located to provide underwater services to shipping utilising this busy waterway.We are able to offer our inspection & maintenance services to numerous clients flying both UK and foreign flags .With Lloyds accreditation for inwater surveys the local ferry companies - Caledonian MacBrayne and Western Ferries often utilse Shearwaters services for regular inspections, as well as the occasional callout to clear props and thrusters
Shearwater dive teams also provide inspection services to the visiting R.F.A vessels supporting the bases of Coulport and Faslane.
Over the last few years Shearwater dive teams have also assisted the MCA while dealing with vessels running aground or sinking
One such vessel was the MV Jambo which ran aground and ultimately sank north of Ullapool. Shearwater provided the inspection and monitoring service required to check on the remains of the salvaged cargo - the service required the dive teams to mobilise at short notice to utilise short weather widows on an exposed western coast
With close access to the ports of Greenock, Hunterston, Troon & Ayr Shearwater can be on site with an inspection team within hours of a callout, whether it be a quick inspection from our rigid inflatable c/w a 225hp engine or a more detailed inspect and repair with video from the workboat `Hound Voyager`
