Infrastructure projects encounter many hindrances during implementation and involve huge investments. In identifying the projects for implementation, it is essential to examine the technical, environmental and social viability of the project and is also required to justify importance of investment in the project in terms of need as well as benefit to the society. For this, Techno-Economic Feasibility Studies become a very critical tool. During this studies the various functions of a Bridge Engineer are such as Site inspection, detailed condition survey of Cross Drainage Structures by visual inspection and if required conducting Non Destructive Test. Based on the site condition of the structures, taking decision of Reconstruction or Repair & Rehabilitation for all the structures. Collection of data from secondary sources viz; past traffic census, corridor overtopping details, material sources, General Arrangement of existing structures, Hydraulic data, Geotechnical data and any other sensitive spots along the corridor. Based on the collected secondary data finalization of General Arrangement of Structures with best alternatives span arrangement & Preliminary design for proposed structures assuming type and depth of foundation.
