Underground Storage Tanks (UST) Services
The California Department of Health Services and California State Water Resources Board teamed up to address public health and environmental issues linked to underground storage tanks containing fuel or hazardous substances. As a result, the agencies developed a series of procedures to determine if unauthorized releases have occurred. Unauthorized releases can cause contamination of soil and pose a threat to ground water, and can also directly affect ground water. Federal rules passed in 1988 required owners and operators to upgrade, close or replace their underground storage tank systems by December 22, 1998.
The Agencies` recommended procedures are contained in the LUFT Field Manual. Advanced Technology Laboratories is experienced at performing these analyses in soil, water and air, they include:
- Aromatic Volatile Organics (EPA 8021B)
- Flashpoint (EPA 1010)
- Metals (EPA 6010B; 7000A)
- Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (LUFT, EPA 8015)
- Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (EPA 1664)
- Volatile Organic Compounds (EPA 8260B)
