Waste Demolition
Every demolition project is different. A US WASTE project manager will draft a site specific safety and work plan.
Below we have outlined a typical demo project.
- Obtain all demo permits
- Secure demolition area / confirm all utility disconnects
- Perform asbestos abatement
- Remove all lights, ballasts, mercury switches
- Identify and remove all hazardous materials
Demo Equipment
Excavators may be used to demo multiple story buildings by means of a controlled process. The object is to undermine the building while controlling the direction it falls. The project manager will oversee all steps of this process. Safety and cleanup considerations are also taken into account in determining how the building is ultimately demolished.
In some cases excavators with hydraulic cutting shears will be utilized to demolish steel structure.
In order to control dust, water may be utilized to maintain a wet demolition.
Large loaders, dozers and tri-axle dump trucks may also be used to demolish a building. These loaders and bulldozers are typically equipped with large blades that are used to push building walls. Skid steers and loaders will also be used to load materials and sort steel.
