Water Hygiene Service
Almost every building in the UK has a water supply of some kind. We take it for granted that the supply is clean, fresh and suitable for use. Sometimes this is not the case. Systems that are badly designed, are in a poor state of general repair or are operated at unsuitable temperatures can become a breeding ground for a variety of bacteria. Within the system, dirt, scale and debris can act as a source of nutrients for E coli, TVC and perhaps most alarmingly, Legionella pneumophila. Any areas that require remedial works will be detected during the course of the risk assessment. We will make recommendations for any modifications and renovations needed to the services, which may be necessary in order to ensure regulatory compliance with the current guidelines. H2O approaches water hygiene through a four step approach, tailored to achieve maximum results for your individual needs.
1. Cleaning and Chlorination
Deep cleaning, tank chlorination and water chlorination of systems are the key tools that can be used in ensuring that water systems remain clean and fit for use.
Often undertaken on a regular planned maintenance basis, all works are carried out in strict accordance with BS6700 and certificates are issued in confirmation of the works undertaken.
2. Water Tank Refurbishment
Cold water storage tanks often form the very heart of a water system, storing water for use by building occupants.
Sometimes though, tanks are poorly maintained and dirt, corrosion and other deposits can contaminate the water supply.
Our company can totally refurbish tanks including new linings, coatings, lids, insulation and insect screens.
This preventative maintenance helps reduce potential risk and ensure compliance with current Bylaws.
3. Pipework Modifications and Remedial Works
As the use of the building changes over the years, so too can the pipework configurations and layouts. Sometimes this can lead to deadlegs, low use areas, over capacity of stored water etc.
We employ our own in-house pipework engineers to carry out modifications to ensure a system is operating as hygienically as possible.
4. Tank and Plant Replacement
In some cases cold water storage tanks and other items of plant are beyond the state of economic or practical repair and total replacement may be the only option.
H2O can offer holistic solutions by providing both the plant and expertise to undertake mechanical modifications to the systems, tanks, pumps or calorifiers.
