Legionella Control Service
Legionella pneumophila, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease, occurs naturally within water and therefore all buildings with a water supply can present a risk to the occupants. The HSE’s Approved Code of Practice L8 ‘the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems’ and BS 8580:2010 ‘Water quality – Risk assessments for Legionella control – Code of practice’ provide specific guidance on the best ways to reduce the risk to the building occupants – a message that is reinforced in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Our tailored Legionella control programmes have been developed in accordance with this legislation, ensuring all our clients receive the most up to date advice and service.
Water Hygiene Service
Almost every building in the UK has a water supply of some kind. We take it for granted that the supply is clean, fresh and suitable for use. Sometimes this is not the case. Systems that are badly designed, are in a poor state of general repair or are operated at unsuitable temperatures can become a breeding ground for a variety of bacteria. Within the system, dirt, scale and debris can act as a source of nutrients for E coli, TVC and perhaps most alarmingly, Legionella pneumophila. Any areas that require remedial works will be detected during the course of the risk assessment. We will make recommendations for any modifications and renovations needed to the services, which may be necessary in order to ensure regulatory compliance with the current guidelines. H2O approaches water hygiene through a four step approach, tailored to achieve maximum results for your individual needs.
Water Treatment Service
The importance of an effective water treatment regime within any building can never be overstated. Properly designed and managed water treatment programmes not only ensure a system and the associated plant is operating effectively and cost effectively, but can also greatly increase the effective life span of the plant and reduce running costs. H2O have developed a comprehensive and cost effective programme of water treatment solutions to not only ensure a system is operating in accordance with the latest guidelines but also to guarantee it stays that way.
Air Hygiene Service
In recent years, it has become commonplace for buildings in the UK to have some form of air conditioning system installed. Whether this be a large air handling system serving fresh air throughout a complex network of ducts or a simple split unit serving one small room, they all have one thing in common; to provide the building users with clean, fresh air. Over time these systems can become contaminated and they begin polluting the very areas they are supposed to be serving. The cause of the internal contamination can be any number of individual factors; poor filtration, age of system, geographical location of the building or design of the system. Left unchecked, these deposits can begin to appear as smuts on grilles, damaging decor and building appearance. Large deposits can begin to clog motors or coils and thus greatly reduce a systems operating efficiency. Perhaps most importantly, microbiological
