Water Well Borehole Solutions
What is a Waterwell Borehole?: Your own private water supply from your land. We drill to a depth below the ground water level up to 200m, insert a well casing (to stop the walls collapsing), install a pump (to raise the water to ground level), fit with a cover to protect the ground water supply from pollution. We can then arrange installation of a borehole pump, water storage and water treatment so that the water can be used for drinking and use in the home, as well as irrigation and other purposes. We offer an annual service agreement on our water borehole systems. Water boreholes are different to gshp boreholes (geothermal boreholes) when installing closed loop systems.
Will I need permission?
Provided less than 20,000 litres of water per day is used (almost as much as a milk tanker holds) a licence is not required for water well boreholes. Using more than this volume would require consent from the Environmental Agency, we can assist with obtaining a licence should one be required for water boreholes.
Note: Some areas do not have accessible ground water. Therefore not everyone can have a borehole for water wells. We are happy to assess the location and give you free advice and an estimate. An experienced borehole drilling company such as Nicholls Boreholes can help you with this. We cover a large area of the South East, including West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, London, Berkshire and also other areas of the UK.
We notify the British Geological Survey (BGS) of our intent to drill water boreholes and on completion we send a completed borehole record.
