In-Situ Soil & Groundwater Remediation

by USP Technologies     based in Atlanta, GEORGIA (US) (USA)

The use of H2O2 to chemically oxidize the contaminants into mineralized products (CO2 , salts, and readily biodegradable organic fragments) offers a number of advantages over these current treatment methods. Benefits of Soil Decontamination by Chemical Oxidation: The reagent used (H2O2) is inexpensive, readily available, and has as its reaction products water and oxygen; The chemistry of the process (Fenton's Reagent) has been known for over 50 years and its applicability to a wide variety of contaminants is well documented; The process is easily applied and controlled; The treatment occurs rapidly, lasting from a few hours to a few weeks; The process produces no by-product wastestreams, and can be tuned for the degree of contaminant removal desired. This allows it to be used synergistically with other technologies such as biotreatment or soil washing.

Ozone generators for industrial application

by Absolute Systems Inc.     based in Edmonton, ALBERTA (CANADA)

Contaminated Water Filtration

by Omnitec Design, Inc.     based in Mukilteo, WASHINGTON (USA)

Industry standard best practices are designed to ensure that all work done on Asbestos Abatement Projects is done to the highest level of safety and risk management. Containment of the generated waste water fibers and debris is critical to proper compliance and worker safety. If these fibers are not captured and contained, they can be very harmful for the environment, on-site workers and the occupants of neighboring areas. Exactly how you approach your containment and capture solutions will depend on the individual site’s risk assessment report. If you need help identifying solutions to the issues raised in the report, feel free to contact our customer service department and we can review your options together. Water from showers at Asbestos Abatement sites is often contaminated with asbestos fibers from washing protective gear and equipment. This water must be filtered prior to discharge into a drain.

Quantitative Analysis of Steel Using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)

by Applied Spectra, Inc.     based in Fremont, CALIFORNIA (USA)

For steel analysis, LIBS is ideal for rapid QC (quantitative analysis and detection of contaminants) for raw materials in production, and to check the elemental composition of finished products. LIBS also offers the ability to analyze slag samples that can lead to the recovery of precious metals lost in the steel production process.

Data analysis and visualization tools for groundwater contamination

by C Tech Development Corporation     based in Henderson, NEVADA (USA)

Sites with soil contamination often are also subject to contamination of the groundwater.  Groundwater contamination can be very complex and a thorough understanding of the geology of the aquifer and contaminant sources is critical in planning remediation efforts.  EnterVol offers C Tech’s proven technology within the ArcGIS environment.

Rapid Site Cleanup, Closure & Resale

by TerraTherm, Inc.     based in Gardner, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

We can help you achieve site closure and enable the sale or redevelopment of your site in a predictable timeframe with highly reliable results. This is made possible by: Our broad array of thermal remediation technologies, each tailored to the site-specific conditions and contaminants; Tested and proven field operations, processes, and teams; Expertise in designing projects to ensure outcomes without the need for further remediation; and, Our ability to assure a shorter project cycle and verification that goals are achieved by sampling before we shut down or demobilize.

Water filtration with UV purification for healthcare

by Waterlogic International Ltd     based in Basingstoke, UNITED KINGDOM

When hygiene is a matter of life and death and purity is premium, only Waterlogic is good enough. Tap water or traditional hospital water fountains can contain contaminants including pathogens such as Pseudomonas, Legionella, Streptococcus, and E. Coli. Is that safe? You don’t think so and neither do we. When it comes to healthcare, water quality must be of paramount importance.

Applications Testing GRO in Soil at Gasoline UST Site

by Sitelab Corporation     based in West Newbury, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

Sitelab's UVF-3100D is used by an environmental consultant to test contaminated soils at a former gasoline station. The UVF produces very accurate results, matching well to GRO and VPH test methods performed by certified laboratories.

Contaminant Site Investigation Applications

by Westbay Instruments     based in Burnaby, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA)

Characterization of contaminated groundwater requires detailed monitoring to eliminate data gaps, improve predictive numerical models, and track remedial efforts. The Westbay System is a reliable, cost-effective technology for obtaining detailed information, enabling groundwater professionals to carry out comprehensive and defensible contaminant site investigations and long-term monitoring.

XRF analysis for environmental applications

by Niton UK Limited     based in Woodmancott, Winchester, UNITED KINGDOM

Niton analysers are versatile environmental testing instruments that provide valuable assistance in portable soil testing applications such as brownfield site investigation. With the ability to analyse a wide range of materials, our instruments provide lab-quality soil/sediment chemistry in seconds. Lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and other toxic metals contaminate sites of former industrial and agricultural activity around the world. Whatever the reasons for these occurrences, these pollutants cannot be ignored – particularly as environmental consciousness and regulatory initiatives grow.

PAHs in Sediment

by Sitelab Corporation     based in West Newbury, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

Sitelab's laboratory performed a 4 day site investigation testing PAHs in sediment on the West Branch Grand Calumet River in Indiana. Test data was used to fingerprint and map the river bottom contaminated with heavy crude oil.

Mercury monitoring for on-site remediation

by Tekran Instruments Corporation     based in Knoxville, TENNESSEE (USA)

Fugitive emissions can be a health concern during removal and disposal of mercury-contaminated material at remediation sites. Thus, remediation projects either indoors or outdoors often require on-site, real-time mercury air monitoring with a Tekran 2537. This assures permitted levels are not exceeded during waste processing and human exposure levels are below government regulated toxicity thresholds. Often multiple sites must be monitored continuously. The Tekran 1115 Multi-Port Sampler is the ideal tool for multiplexing the Tekran 2537 for real-time continuous on-site monitoring of mercury fugitive emissions. Please contact us for more information on mercury remediation monitoring.

Helping Others Clean Up The Earth By Clearing Up Brownfield Remediation Odors

Brownfield remediation consists of removing large amounts of soil that have been saturated with tar, oil or other contaminating substances. Not only dangerous to handle, the disturbed soil is often infused with very unpleasant and in some cases potentially nauseous odors.

Groundwater Monitoring for Construction Sites

by HERON Instruments Inc.     based in Dundas, ONTARIO (CANADA)

All construction affects groundwater and a water management plan will be required. From deforestation to urbanisation, from holes to heaps and dams to drains, they all have an affect on the groundwater. Deforestation causes an increase in the rate of run off of rainwater resulting in lower percolation of precipitation into the soil and a consequent increase in soil erosion leading to slope instability, hence land and mud slides. The increased rate of run off can cause small streams and large rivers to rise and flood in a shorter time, but also to dry up sooner. These conditions cause great difficulties for subsistence farmers in developing countries. Urbanisation also causes faster run off because of the non permeable surfaces such as roads, roofs and car parks. This also creates drainage problems that can lead to contamination and erosion of natural water courses.

Solutions for the vapor suppression

by The BioSolve Company     based in Lexington, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

BioSolve Pinkwater is used at major remediation and construction work-sites where excavation of contaminated soils may release noxious organic odors or hazardous VOCs. The dilute solution is sprayed directly onto newly exposed soil surfaces or stockpiles of contaminated material where volatilization is taking place. Used as an alternative to foam, Pinkwater creates a barrier that keeps vapors in the soil, allowing work to continue safely without disruption to workers or neighbors.
